These are a series of paintings inspired by Rubens painting at the National Gallery in London.  The painting Minerva Protecting Pax from Mars was painted about 1629 to 1630 during a diplomatic mission from the Spanish Netherlands to Charles 1 of England it shows the goddess of war who is wise and fighting of Mars God of war.  This is all surounding the cenrtral Nude figure Ceres who represnts Peace. This is something that is so relevant to us all today in the world with so many contries at war.  It was very cleaver of Rubens who used his paintings to show the people the benefits of Peace and to suggest through his art that with peace all will prosper and families will  thrive together.
